Welcome

Transform from Within: Uncover the Roots of Trauma, Reclaim Your Life and Befriend Your Nervous System

Do you feel stuck in the same old patterns, no matter how hard you try to change?

Does it feel like you’re unable to move forward in a way that truly feels authentic and meaningful? You may find it difficult to connect with your body, or even struggle to trust your intuition. Perhaps you’ve already tried traditional talk therapy and still feel like something deep within is holding you back.

If any of this resonates with you, know that you’re not alone—and it’s no accident that you’ve found yourself here. Taking this step towards growth and change is courageous. I deeply appreciate what it took for you to show up here, even when things feel tough.

I honor and welcome all bodies, experiences and identities into this healing space.

This is a space where you can reconnect with yourself, feel safe in your body and begin to heal. Whether you’re navigating the heaviness of unresolved trauma, feeling stuck in painful relationship patterns or seeking a way to live more authentically, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Together, we’ll work to gently equip you with the tools you need to face these challenges and start listening to your body in a deeper, more compassionate way. My approach is grounded in helping you heal from within, so you can reclaim your life and step into a more fulfilling, meaningful version of yourself.

Marisa Vann, MEd, LPC, SEP

Somatic Psychotherapist (she/her/hers)

I see our work together as a collaborative journey of self-discovery, where you can gain deeper insight and connect with your authentic self in a nurturing, safe space. Throughout this process, we’ll explore ways to help you get unstuck, making life’s challenges feel more manageable through embodiment, new perspectives, and the development of essential skills. As our work progresses, you’ll begin to understand how we each play a role in shaping our present circumstances, and how you can find meaning and growth in your experiences.

I approach each client from a trauma-informed perspective, working with adults navigating developmental and complex trauma, self-esteem challenges, relationship issues, and questions around sexual or gender identity. I believe healing is possible for everyone, beginning with reconnecting to your body and befriending your nervous system. Grounded in somatic psychotherapy, attachment theory, existential psychology, and polyvagal theory, my work creates a safe, supportive space for us to explore your experiences and foster lasting change.

I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of New Orleans, and I have completed several somatic training programs that greatly inform my work as a somatic psychotherapist:

  • Kathy Kain and Stephen Terrell – Year-long training in Somatic Resilience and Regulation.
  • Somatic Experiencing Institute – Three-year training program in Somatic Experiencing® to achieve Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) certification.
  • Kathy Kain – Year-long Touch Skills Training for Therapists and a four-day training in Somatic Narrative and the Viscera.
  • Stephen Terrell – Year-long training in Transforming the Experienced-Based Brain (TEB).

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Louisiana (LA license #5505).
